Why I Joined: David Hoffman

The Charlotte Junior Chamber Blog

By David Hoffman
2011 President-Elect

The Charlotte Junior Chamber is unlike any other leadership or young professional group in Charlotte.  Going back to 1929, the Jaycees are a group of young men and women who put the community first.  Our main goal is to help our residents who are less fortunate.  By doing this, each member, including myself, receives a wealth of value from making a positive difference in the life of another.  Every day I am reminded of the impact that helping even one person can have on the community as a whole and my own life.  I have found that I have more self-worth due to the opportunities that the Charlotte Junior Chamber has afforded me by giving back and helping others, but also through relationships with close friends and favorite clients that have been fostered with other Jaycees, and members of our wonderful community.  These relationships have grown through common interests, a true passion for helping others, and true friendships that will hopefully last a lifetime. The Junior Chamber is more than just trading business cards like baseball cards. It is about working with others in order to have a positive influence on the lives of many.

This is the direction that I want my legacy to take, and this organization is a perfect fit for me.  I am truly humbled and honored to be the incoming President, and I hope to be able to give back even one-tenth  of what the Jaycees and the Charlotte community have already given me.

The Jaycees Creed

We believe that faith in God gives meaning and purpose to human life; that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations; that economic justice can best be won by free men through free enterprise; that government should be of laws rather than of men; that earth’s greatest treasure lies in human personality; and that service to humanity is the best work of life.
